Sand Safari Arts Festival 2020

The start of the year is always an exciting time, with many visitors coming to stay over the summer school holidays or couples taking time away together, and looking to take advantage of the many wonderful local events and activities to make their stay something truly special. January and February 2020 is no exception, with a fantastic lineup of exciting things to see and do!

Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets

On Wednesday the 8th of January from 5pm to 10pm you can immerse yourself in Gold Coast culture with a stop by the Beachfront Markets. From local art to photography, handmade creations, beauty products, coastal fashion, and delicious food vendors there to offer you dishes to tantalise your tastebuds. There’s nothing quite like them, and all situated along the beautiful Surfer Paradise beach.

Sand Safari Arts Festival

From the 14th of February to the 1st of March the sand of Surfers Paradise beach will be transformed into creations that are wilder, more fantastical, whimsical, and imaginative that you could ever dream up! Huge sand sculptures, larger than life art, and all completely free to enjoy over the 17 days that is the Sand Safari Arts Festival. Take pictures, stop by the pop up beach library for storytime, enjoy the public instrumental harps, and so much more! Read more about the artists and sculptures here.

Australia Day

The 26th of January is Australia Day, and there’s no better time to grab your board shorts and head to the beach to soak up some sunshine, play a game of family footy or beach cricket, body surf, bodyboard, snorkel, swim, or surf. Just a little north of Surfers Paradise you can find the Broadwater Parklands which will be hosting 4-8pm free Australia Day Celebrations with live music by The Round Mountain Girls, as well as Electrik Lemonade, San Mein, and Liv Heyer. There will be food vendors, and Aussie activity zone for kids, as well as beach volleyball! Not to be missed, be sure to addthis to your holiday itinerary. Find out more about this great event here.

Kids Take Over Festival

Home of the Arts (HOTA) welcomes back the Kids Take Over Festival from 10-18 January, which will be 8 days of actions packed fun. From the inventor lab to DJ training, dance parties to superhero art classes, and not to mention holograms!
